A drink fit for summer: Lavender Lemonade
When life hands you lemons, make lavender lemonade! What a lovely way to spend a summer day. And it’s especially sweet when the lavender comes from your own garden, patio or windowsill. Plus, lavender is very easy to grow. It loves the sun and well-drained, amended soil, with enough space to spread out (and/or prune, harvest or repot as needed).
Perfect for company or to keep on hand for a lazy summer day. Here’s how:
12oz can frozen lemonade concentrate (or homemade lemonade recipe of choice)
1 gallon cold water
¼ cup dried lavender blossoms
2 cups boiling water
Mint or lemon balm sprigs for garnish
Combine frozen concentrate with cold water, mixing well. Steep lavender in boiling water for 10 minutes. Strain lavender blossoms from water and discard. Combine remaining lavender concentrate with prepared lemonade. Chill well. Add garnish before serving. Serves 18.
