The Altum’s Story
From the first tree in 1958, to the beautiful landscapes that followed, Bob Altum built his family’s reputation on garden designs and relationships that grow better with time.
For 50 years, he and his team started every job with fresh plants from handpicked local growers. Bob appreciated the local mentality and invested his time and resources in giving the best to his clients. This is how he earned the trust and business of generations, who learned one after the other that Bobʼs creativity and personal touch were what made the Altumʼs name.
Two new generations of Altums, Dana and her son Kirk, are reinventing the traditional garden center at Altum’s at Finley Creek, a unique open-air market just six miles north on Michigan Road in Zionsville. It’s a new beginning for Altum’s, and we’ve embraced the laid-back countryside vibe, while employing a progressive approach to online ordering (and pre-ordering), customer service and conveniences. The future looks pretty and personal.

Pick-up in Store
Your order is reserved. We'll let you know when it's ready. Then, just pull into a designated space, call 317-733-GROW and present your email receipt when we bring it to your car.
Deliver & Plant
Select the delivery or delivery & planting option at checkout. We'll give you a list of simple tips to prepare for your visit, schedule a convenient day & time and handle everything for you.

Seeking an energetic, self-starter who loves the green industry, planting with care and pitching in for the good of our small group.
You’ll spend your days outside leading your crew in making homeowners happy, which comes easy when you love what you do and work for a family-owned garden center with 60 years of local success. We’ll rely on your gracious customer service and attention to detail, positive attitude, maintenance of company grounds, vehicles and equipment and muscles when it comes to unloading/loading product and helping us be our best together.
First and foremost, you’ll be working with plants and plant people, so we’ve got that going for us! We’re searching for people who have an interest and knowledge in growing and gardening, enjoy what they do and take joy in building relationships.
Custom Potting Expert: Does this sound like you? Someone who loves to:
- plant creatively, with heart and expertise
- build genuine relationships with customers: ask questions, make recommendations, respect timelines, track and follow up on orders
- create made-to-order Grab & Go Porch Pots, as well as always-available in-store options as needed
- stay active and move throughout the day, lifting and planting pots, walking with customers and helping them in all kinds of weather
- make the place beautiful: help to merchandise, plant up seasonal displays, care for plants and make people feel welcome
- assist with make & take and informational workshops

Sales Associate: Create the memorable shopping experience our customers have come to expect from Altum’s. Help us support our brand promise by providing creative solutions to our customers, inspiring them to try new things and encouraging them with knowledge, the right tools and a positive attitude. Since our busiest days are typically Saturday & Sunday, weekends are required.
Receiving Support: We’re working with perishable product, so we need reliable & dedicated people to receive and make our inventory readily available to our customers. If you are able to work in a fast-paced, process-oriented environment, and are familiar with receiving practices, we’d like to meet you. Must be able to operate equipment such as Bobcat w/tree boss, bucket or forks, Gator, golfcart, mower, blowers, and other power tools. Must be available to work weekends.
Carryout Staff: Turn a good shopping experience into a truly memorable one. We offer our customers the courtesy of carrying and loading their plants and products in their vehicles, a great opportunity to leave a lasting impression. This position requires the ability to lift, and because of the close contact with customers, strong communication and customer service skills. Must have weekend availability. This is a great ‘first job’ experience, too!
Cashier Team: Often the first and last contact we have with our customers is at the registers. This team’s high visibility means its vitally important each member is positive and personable. Process sales orders, provide printed resources, promote our products & services in a positive manner, and help us to build relationships with customers. Must have demonstrated computer experience. If you have a heart for people, we want to meet you! All cashiers will be expected to work some weekend days, but this is part of the fun. Another great ‘first job’ experience!
