From the first tree in 1958 to the functional, fanciful, and just plain pretty landscapes that followed, Bob Altum worked with purpose and passion, building beautiful gardens and lasting relationships with his clients.
For 50 years, he and his team started every job with robust, vibrant plants from handpicked local suppliers who know the soil and stake their reputation on quality. Bob appreciated the local mentality because he practiced it himself, investing his time, attention, and resources in giving the best to his clients. This is how he earned the trust and business of generations, who learned, one after the other, that Bobʼs creativity, personal touch, and painstaking perfection were what made—and continue to make—the Altumʼs name. Today, the Altum family practices Bobʼs garden principles from its yard and garden destination nestled between Zionsville, Carmel, and Indianapolis, Indiana. This is where we bring ideas to life.

Pick-up in Store
Your order is reserved. We'll let you know when it's ready. Then, just pull into a designated space, call 317-733-GROW and present your email receipt when we bring it to your car.

Select the delivery or delivery & planting option at checkout. We'll give you a list of simple tips to prepare for your visit, schedule a convenient day & time and handle everything for you.

Are you an experienced, detail-oriented, self-starter who is up to leading a landscape crew? We rely on hardworking, dedicated individuals like you to make it happen! This is a rewarding full-time position offering benefits including PTO (paid time off), Health Insurance and Simple IRA upon eligibility. A minimum 3 years landscape and 1 year foreman experience. Must maintain proper licensure, including a Chauffeur’s or CDL license if requested, and be able to operate all equipment. Because contact with both employees and customers is a high priority in this position, communication skills are very important.
First and foremost, you’ll be working with plants and plant people, so we’ve got that going for us! We’re searching for people who have an interest and knowledge in growing and gardening, enjoy what they do and take joy in building relationships.
Sales Associate: Create the memorable shopping experience our customers have come to expect from Altum’s. Help us support our brand promise by providing creative solutions to our customers, inspiring them to try new things and encouraging them with knowledge, the right tools and a positive attitude. Since our busiest days are typically Saturday & Sunday, weekends are required.
Receiving Support: We’re working with perishable product, so we need reliable & dedicated people to receive and make our inventory readily available to our customers. If you are able to work in a fast-paced, process-oriented environment, and are familiar with receiving practices, we’d like to meet you. Must be able to operate equipment such as Bobcat w/tree boss, bucket or forks, Gator, golfcart, mower, blowers, and other power tools. Must be available to work weekends.
Carryout Staff: Turn a good shopping experience into a truly memorable one. We offer our customers the courtesy of carrying and loading their plants and products in their vehicles, a great opportunity to leave a lasting impression. This position requires the ability to lift, and because of the close contact with customers, strong communication and customer service skills. Must have weekend availability. This is a great ‘first job’ experience, too!
Cashier Team: Often the first and last contact we have with our customers is at the registers. This team’s high visibility means its vitally important each member is positive and personable. Process sales orders, provide printed resources, promote our products & services in a positive manner, and help us to build relationships with customers. Must have demonstrated computer experience. If you have a heart for people, we want to meet you! All cashiers will be expected to work some weekend days, but this is part of the fun. Another great ‘first job’ experience!
