TAKE (GROUND)COVER

Groundcover is like The Fixer on a crime show. The person who comes in and smooths things over, turns a not-so-ideal situation into one that passes for respectable (and better) and the one who orchestrates the cover up. Wow, we were really committed to this comparison.

But seriously, groundcover is a hero in spaces that are uneven and hard to mow, really shady and inhospitable to turf grass, intensely hot and dry where nothing else grows without an awful lot of maintenance, high-traffic along pathways or between pavers, and even a good choice to choke out weeds. They come in shade-loving and heat/sun-loving varieties, with plenty of options for adding color, texture and interest.

AVAILABLE VARIETIES:

Ajuga Black Scallop 
A shady star and wonderful spreader, thriving in shady areas where grass has difficulty growing. Black Scallop has near-black, very glossy scalloped leaves and short, spiky and fragrant flowers in a deep-blueish purple.

Ajuga Burgundy Glow 
This resilient, ground-hugging groundcover is the perfect solution for dappled shade under the canopies of larger trees. The unusual foliage is variegated pale green and cream, and paired with burgundy-tinged leaves and deep-bluish purple flower spikes.

Ajuga Chocolate Chip
A dwarf, spreading groundcover that creates a tight mat of rich, chocolate brown foliage with dark green undertones. Charming spikes of lacy blue flowers rise above the foliage in the spring. May repeat bloom in milder climates. Beautiful in containers, around shrubs or between stepping stones.
