A fast-growing ferny deciduous conifer related to the sequoia
Owning a Dawn Redwood is to own a piece of the past. These ancient trees were thought to be extinct until the 1940s, when this member of the Bald Cyprus family was rediscovered in the forests of China. The trees are extremely fast-growing, conical in shape and grow up to 70-100 feet tall with a 25 foot spread! So we recommend them for large spaces in full sun.
Bright green, feathery leaves turn a beautiful orangey-bronze in the fall before they fall to the ground. And the Dawn has a distinctive and beautiful fluting of the trunk, a very architectural feature of this large landscape friend.
