Doubleplay Candy Corn Spirea

You probably already know that spirea is one of the go-to players in the landscape because it is blissfully low maintenance. It has a low, mounded habit that requires little to any pruning (always after the flowers fade), thrives in the sun and is for the most part left alone by deer and rabbits. We love to use spirea in mass plantings along a border or edge.

Yours will emerge in early spring candy-apple red, then mature to a bright, mellow yellow with new growth popping in a bright orange. Dark purple flowers appear in late spring and early summer for a really vivid display.
