Ficus Petiolarus

this little figgy

In Mexico, this plant is called the rock fig for the way it reaches its roots over and around rocks to find soil. Which is good news for those of us who are growing Ficus Petiolarus in our living rooms and around the house, because they’re resilient and very easy to grow. If you look closely, the heart-shaped leaves have beautiful red veining, too.

Yours will thrive in part sun to part shade with good drainage and prefers to be on the dry side. If you’d like to supersize your FP, plant him up in a larger pot this summer and fertilize regularly during the season to promote growth.

Also available in the simply stylish Alaska pot
