We’re admittedly fans of all trees, but the ornamental White Fringe is slightly magical. That’s partly because its uncommon in the landscape, and because the blooms look like delicate white ribbons. The smell is sweet (it is a member of the Lilac family, after all), but not overpowering, just enough to catch on a breeze. It’s a relatively small tree (20ft at maturity), a slow grower with a spreading, open habit, thrives in full sun and is tolerant of wet soil.
