Miracle on the Hudson Rose

Turns out, not all roses are created equal. The Miracle on the Hudson is exceptional (just like Captain ‘Sully’ Sullenberger, whose skill and quick-thinking was responsible for the safe landing of US Air Flight 1549 on the Hudson River). In 2014, Miracle won Best Shrub Rose, Best Growth Habit, Most Disease Resistant and Best in Show at the Biltmore International Rose Trials Competition. When you see its brilliant red flowers, spring to fall, you’ll understand why.

Soil: Evenly moist but well-drained soils are best. A 2-3″ layer of shredded bark mulch is recommended in all areas, all year round. We recommend Altum’s Soil Amendment and Organic Plant Magic soil additive to improve planting areas.
Pruning: Early spring. Cut out any dead branches and select interior branches to allow for better air circulation. Prune back one-third to one-half of plant to remove any winter kill on tips and to encourage new growth.
Fertilizer: Beginning in March or April, fertilize with Rose Food and apply every 8 weeks to keep your roses looking their best. Stop fertilizing in late summer/fall as your roses prepare for their winter slumber
