Time to plant! Before I planted my first crop, I added Root Rally from Age Old Organics to my raised bed. Here’s the fancy scientific explanation of the benefits:
A complete blend of Endo-and Ecto-mycorrhizae spores with vitamins, minerals and nutrients. The inoculants provides mycorrhizae life support for trees, shrubs, flowers, fruits and vegetables. Applied to the plant’s root system this 100% premium organic blend will reduce transplant shock, encourage root growth, and increase water and nutrient uptake.
My explanation: This product makes it easier for the roots to absorb the vitamins and nutrients in the soil it needs to grow. Healthy roots, healthy plant.
It’s a little too early to plant most plants as we still have a threat of frost. I decided to plant sugar snap peas and a variety of lettuces. Don’t forget to use an innucculent for peas as they are heavy nitrogen feeders and this helps the plants take up the nitrogen needed.
I “scored” the soil into 1 foot sections and planted in a grid instead of rows. You can plant either way. These cool crop veggies do not like our hot summers so I only planted about half of the seeds, hoping I can get a second crop in late summer/fall.
Just discovered that Peter Rabbit may be living under my deck so I think I’ll need to put up some kind of barrier soon.
Hope to be eating lots of salads soon!
